AI Policy
Transparency about how we use AI, and our commitment to the creative community.
Our Philosophy
Wizzlethorpe Labs builds tools that use AI to enhance tabletop gaming experiences. We believe AI should complement human creativity, not replace it. We are committed to transparency about when and how AI is used in our products.
We will never charge for AI-generated content. We give users the option to use AI tools, but we will never sell the outputs of those tools as standalone products.
AI Use by Product
Here is exactly where AI is and isn't used across our products:
| Product | AI Used? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Compendium | No AI | All maps, assets, and content are handcrafted. Zero AI-generated content. |
| Cocktails | No AI | All cocktail recipes and descriptions are written by hand. Zero AI-generated content. |
| Quickbrush | User-Initiated | Users generate images using OpenAI's image models. Prompts are sent to OpenAI's API. Users provide their own API key (BYOK) or use server-side generation for Patreon supporters. |
| Languages | AI-Assisted | Translations use Anthropic's Claude API as part of the translation pipeline. The grammar, vocabulary, and rendering rules for each language are hand-authored; AI assists with structured translation. |
What We Don't Do
- Style mimicry: We do not allow artist names or art style references in prompts. All user prompts are scrubbed to remove references to specific artists.
- Sell AI output: We never charge for AI-generated content. Our paid tiers grant access to tools, not to AI outputs.
- Claim AI output is human-created: We are transparent about when AI is involved in producing content.
- Train AI models: We do not use any user data, prompts, or generated content to train AI models. We do not store user prompts or AI outputs on our servers.
- Position AI as a replacement for professional artists, writers, or translators.
Data & AI Providers
When you use AI-powered features, your data is sent to third-party AI providers. We do not store this data ourselves. Please review their policies:
